SERIOUS PROBLEMS RELATED TO UNDERAGE DRINKING
-Males were more likely than their female peers to report past month alcohol consumption, except among youths 12 to 17.
-Children who begin drinking before the age of 15 have a 4-times greater chance of becoming alcoholic as an adult than those who begin at 21
-4 out of 10 students have consumed alcohol by the end of 8th grade and 3 out of 4 students have done so by the end of high school
-People who begin drinking before age 15 are four times more likely to develop alcohol dependency, which can lead to:
-Liver disease
-Forms of cancer
-Violence and Problems with the Law
-Alcohol use among teens is associated with the three most common causes of teenage deaths
-Accidental deaths (like car crashes )Homicides Suicides.
-On average eight adolescents a day in the U.S. die in alcohol-related automobile crashes and nine out of 10 teenage automobile accidents involve the use of alcohol
-Ninety-five percent of violent crimes are alcohol-related. The majority of rapes (ninety percent) involve alcohol use by either the victim and/or the assailant.
